8/20/04 - S&S Cycle - Class leading V-Twin engine design with OPTIMUMs Automated Design Expert System

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 20, 2004 - V-Twin motorcycle engines have been in development so long that that significant performance increases are tough to find. S&S Cycle Motorsports marketing program wanted a new V-Twin engine for its drag racing program.

Geoff Burgess (VP Engineering S&S Cycle) Commented: "Using Virtual 4-stroke(V4S) and Automated Design(AD) has changed the way we look at engine design. Not being constrained by the number of prototypes we can build, we can really look at new avenues to find better performance. Not only can we evaluate designs that we might never have tried, but we can also do it unbelievably quick. On the PSB60 project we were able to find an extra 15% power using AD for cam and exhaust system design improvements which was critical to make this engine competitive in V-Twin drag racing."

Adam Green from OPTIMUM Power added: "We are always pleased when our customers create new engine designs so effectively using our tools. S&S have been particularly effective embracing this new technology to maintain their position as market leader. "
